"Queer OS names a way of thinking and acting with, about, through, among, and at times even in spite of new media technologies and other phenomena of mediation. It insists upon forging and facilitating uncommon, irrational, imaginative, and/ or unpredictable relationships between and among what currently are perceptible as living beings and the environment in the interest of creating value(s) that facilitate just relations.8 Because Queer OS ideally functions to transform material relations, it is at odds with the logics embedded in the operating systems McPherson discusses. Because it seeks to undermine the relationships secured through those logics, even as, like McPherson does when she points out that she is using a computer and wordprocessing software that shape her own intellectual work in specific ways, it acknowledges its own imbrication with and reliance on those logics while still striving to forge new relationships and connections"

Purpose:
This operating system attempts to point out the nature of queerness within the space of aesthetics, form, and cultural cognitions

More specifically, this project looks at the variety of internet subcultures that dominate with queer aesthetics, design, and storytelling.

This project realized that there is not one "aesthetic" of queerness, and nor is there one structure of queerness. Kara Keeling discusses this in thier 2014 piece, "queer os". Queer OS is a proposal of a structure; a new way to organize technology. In looking at
The "aesthetics of queerness" are hard to pinpoint, but there are a few ways to describe a queer aesthetic. One large way that queerness is portrayed is through something called "queercoding." This describes the stereotypes and preconceptions often used for LGBTQ+ characters in media, and queercoding enforces the roles that queer people are often forced into. This extends to queer fashion, queer theory, and other methods of queerness.
