Japan Lamp
Upon return from a study abroad in Japan, lamps were created by the studio to commemorate the trip as well as explore the materiality, culture, and history of Japan.
This lamp explores the studio culture of Tom Sachs and his show titled "Tea Ceremony" which was on display at Tokyo Opera City. Utilizing the studio rules of Sachs and a material palette to match,
this lamp is an expression of a translation of Japanese customs to American Industry. It appreciates the form, function, and cultural significance of lamps in Japan while maintaining its context.
